I gotta question for you avid bow hunters. Last year i had a 6 pt walk under my stand. Probally 8yds and quartering away. My question is where should i place my 20 yd pin?? I took the shot and hit high. in the hip area. Ofcourse the deer ran off with my arrow , no deer !Because of the hieght, angle and short distance of the deer where should have i placed my pin? I need to practice this situation from a stand , just in case this happens again! Got any advice??

Take some practice shots and find out. Chances are, your 20 yd pin is going to be off from where you want to place the shot so it is really a guessing game. You will have to get a feel for how far off your desired shot you have to hold. I haven't had a chance to practice this shot with my new setup so I decided I would pass on these shots until I get a chance.
8 yards broadside is a different story, I would take that shot.

Aim low with your 20 yd. pin and gauge how far back based on hitting the opposite shoulder and the angle away from you. This is actually a great shot to take if the deer is truly quartering away. If the deer is headed more directly away don't shoot, wait or pass. Practice makes perfect!!
