I,ve always wanted to hunt these birds but just never pursued this. I use to hear the grouse in the mountains of western M aryland thumping like a drum in the mornings. So i know you could hunt them there because this was public land, but what about Pheasant ? Is there some where locally in the Maryland area to hunt these ?? And if so how do you hunt these birds, dogs or other methods?? I would like some feed back, thanks!

State used to raise them for stocking.(put and take) Waste of time and money. Heck, was a pheasant farm IN Green Rige not too terrible long ago. Anything around here is going to be pen raised birds. Try Kansas.

Yah dave, kind of heard that through the grape vine but am hoping to hear differant. I would really like to try this hunt one time. Somebody told me once that there eggshell becomes to fragil to hatch in this area because of the nitrogen in the soil?? Have you ever heard of this??

That is all I hunted was grouse and pheasant in Somerset county PA! Tons of birds up there if you know where to go. Nothing around here though. I have a friend that gets a permit to get birds, release them, and then hunt them. He has not done it in a while though.
