I went out yesterday to squirrel hunt in the am then get the Black powder out of the truck for the pm. Well as i am getting out of the truck I see 3 does in the field about 80 yards away. I look for a minute and then see a big 6 point just in the woods. I should have shot but for what ever reason I said no. Well i get into the woods and lean against a tree and in 5 minutes I see another deer moving in the brush. Now at this point I start to wonder if I should go get the black powder gun, but do I ..........No. Well 20 minuted latter 2 bucks (big spikes) are standing 30 yards in front of me they were there for 20 minutes and all I had was a 410. Then at noon the fox hunters came through with about 20 horses and 30 dogs didn't see anything else the rest of the day.

when you seen the deer when you got there you should have known to pack the other gun, then you would have been positive you would not have seen any other deer. and an abundance of squirrels... seems the animals know what you are hunting and that is when you see the most of everything you do not want to see (squirrel hunting you are gaurenteed to see deer and alot of them)..

I agree with big fox you would'nt have seen another deer if you pulled your blackpowder out and the tree rat's would have been everywhere.Happens all the time to me..But every once in a while i take both keep's em honest.

I am going after the 6 point on Saturday with the black powder. He was huge and would make a good run for buck of the month. But I will probably only see the tree rats.

Sounds like my day earlier this week. Walked a public tract for deer with the flinter, saw squirrels everywhere! Almost started taking head shots, and will go back and do that after deer season, but was trying to concentrate on deer. Saw 5 deer, too, but no good shots.
