taken on a friends farm last year i think. sure are fun to shoot... the first one basically exploded when the hollow point hit him in the chest at about 75 yards. the second was a little bigger so it just tipped him over though the other side was a little messy..

You could have fun in North Dakota with that, there's a prairie dog town amost a mile across right where you turn in the ranch road where I bowhunt! On sunny days there are thousands of them there.

I have got two hogs in the last week. I trap them for farmers however. If I had a good varment gun I'd shoot them. I might try to do a stalk with my bow, but who has the time when the weather is this nice. I got 32 last year off of one farm.

well HardCore if you ever want to go shoot them let me know and i will bring the blaster with me and we can go eliminate a few..
Osprey, i went out to CA/WY boarder two years ago shooting ground squirrels with my dad and two other guys. shot over 2,000 squirrels over 4 days. mostly 22 long rifle. but sure make them go airbourne with the 223 or 22-250. I grew up out weat and grew up stalking prairie dogs with a 22 and some times a pellet gun when i was real young. i sure miss it. maybe one day we can get out to NODAK to shoot some of the dogs there....

On one of my trips to South Dakota pheasant hunting we stayed at a farm house that had a prairie dog town in the field next to the house. My buddy had a 22-250 and we had a great time in the mornings shooting those little critters. You can't hunt pheasants until after noon for the first 2 weeks of the season. I just loved watching those little varmints explode when they got hit. I had a little problem with ground hogs digging holes in the dam wall of my pond and had to thin them out last year. To my amazement I killed 13 of them using a .22, I don't know where all of them were coming from! I don't see many anymore but it sure was fun shooting them in the yard. I'd leave the carcases behind the pond and the foxes would carry them off at night. Love that critter hunting!

Couple of guys in camp were out shooting the prairie dogs with bows, trying 70-80 yard shots! It's amazing how many they actually hit, and the video they were taking was hilarious!
I got a sweet little .17 HMR last summer, took it out there but never did get a chance to hit the dogtown, always too much else to do.

Ground hogs den up together. Usually two or three holes leading to the main den. I have taken as many as seven or eight out of a single den. Later in the summer even more when the babies are big enough to venture out on their own.
Destructive animals, the claws are crazy sharp and the teeth as well. I almost got bit two years ago. I had shot one that ran back into the hole. I could see the tail end of it at the bottom of the hole. I got a pair of fireplace tongs, got down with half of my arms in the hole and grabbed a chunk of meat to pull it out. As soon as I squeezed, she turned around and charged me, blood coming from her nose mouth open ready to bite. I jumped back and landed on my butt next to my .22 She stopped at the top of the whole with only half of her body out and I shot her three more times. Then had to change my underwear.

Plan on using the Bushmaster this year.
