With the season over for the most part it is time to plan our attack on the spring turkey. But my thoughts this year is on the Black Bear hunt my wife gave me for my big 50 birthday in Alberta Canada. I am really looking forward to it and was wondering if any knows of quality taxidermist that does a good job on Bear. Went to the show in Harrisburg this weekend and saw some good work but most were in western Md. and Pa. This will be my first bear hunt and want to make it memorable with quality taxidermy. I am still going turkey hunting also!!!

NICE BIRTHDAY PRESENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry that I do not know of any black bear taxidermists, but odds are those located in western MD or PA would be better, due to the fact that they would probably have more experience with bears. A 3 or 4 hour drive would be worth it for a great mount.

Here is a link to the taxidermist I took my bear to. I took my bear in Ontario last August and before I left I called a lot of shops and looked at a lot of websites. Here is the link to the shop I finallly chose. They do outstanding work at a reasonable price. Christy Martin specializes in the bear along with other mamals while Tims forte is the birds. They have a small shop in their home but they do a lot of business. Personally I think they are probably one of the best in MD, especially for bear, they also go on a bear hunt themselves almost every year. Check it out. www.martinstaxidermy.homestead.com/

Thanks for all the fast replies. I will check out every one of the contacts. Martins taxidermy is one of the persons I spoke with at Harrisburg, I spoke with Christy and yes they do take pride in there work. Does anyone know if John Mathews off 228 in Charles County is still in business? He did a big non typical for me a few years back and have not been able to contact him. The deer he did for me looks like it still alive.
