I shot my 1st sika this weekend at our hunting camp off Maple Dam Rd. Just 2 of us walking thru the marsh trying to jump something up. We were about to give up when 2 popped up out of no where. Shot 2 times, hit her in the head. We went over to her and there was a blood trail behind her where the other one had run off (I think the 2nd deer was hit with a stray pellet). Followed the trail for about 150 yards through the marsh but no luck. Lost the blood and couldn't find her. But still tagged my 1st! Good huntin' with you Ceeb

Congrats! Sometimes walking and jumping them is the only way to get them moving, I killed my first sika like that when I was 16.

CONGRATS - That drag out can sure be a bummer though. Worth it in the end! ;D

Congrats! She's a nice one. Mine, I just carried out over my shoulder.....literally. I hear a lot of people say hunting them is like hunting rabbits. Kick em up and shoot.

I had a cart for the hind I shot in September...sure made the mile & a half a lot easier. ;D
The terrain sort of makes you glad they are only about 1/3 the size of whitetails!!
