When you all are hunting Blackwater are you hunting from treestands or are you walking the marsh pushing the deer?
Which way do you think gets the best results when hunting Blackwater?

I only started hunting Blackwater last year but here's how we did it.
There are lots of great tress to hang a stand (unlike Assateague Island) so take advantage of that. You can see so much more from a tree because the under growth is just so thick. Thedeerhunter and I went and set-up in tree stands in a pine thicket and he took a nice 4pt stag on the first morning. What I'm going to try this year is to get near an open marsh and hang a stand on the outskirts of a wood line. Find trails leading in and out of the marsh and set-up near them. Now remember, I have yet to kill a sika, but I have been about 15 times now and think I have a better idea of what I'm doing this year. I wish you luck!
A note: The ad on the top of this thread for the Sika Seducer is a good idea to look into. The guy that makes the calls is a Sika expert and will be at our Expo on the 18th of this month. He will be giving a free seminar not to be missed

Bow hunt - treestands or gound blinds. Gun hunt - same for mornings/evening, but if you've got a bunch of guys in the same area on the same day to hunt with drives and marsh pushes can be VERY productive. Not very selective, but productive...

A lot of factors come into play. One of my favorite ways to hunt them is when it is still hunting them. If the water is deep enough and you go slow enough, you won't make much noise if any at all. Some places are so thick that you need to elevated some way.

I say tree stand only because of how thick it can be on the ground. But if you are good at stalking , I'm not, then that might be good as well. Anybody else pumped up for some SIKA?

Climber for me. Lots of pines trees to shimmy up. I think screw in steps are not allowed on public grounds. Lets Play Ball!

Shamless plug but good timing with the Sika season coming soon. I went to the seminar on Sika deer at basspro about a year ago did Doug Wigfield do that seminar? also the sika seducer is it a sika cow in heat call or is it a call that will call both stag and cow, and how much are they?
