The more decoys the better! Learn to call. Seems like you got a good place to hunt so you are set!

good decoys for what ever birds you plan on hunting. remember you get what you pay for, while the cheapos may work some time you are better off spending the money on the good decoys.,..

what size shells do you guys recomend and choke? I am using winchester super x 3in #2 right now most shots are under 35-40 yards over decoys. with a modified choke.

The modified choke isnt bad for long shots, if you get them decoying shoot an improved. As for what to buy, waterproof jacket, a set of durable waders,I prefer at least 5MM neoprene waders, but ask around and figure out for yourself, some decoy gloves, you have got a gun, and a habit. All you need are some good buddies to learn from and go from there. I wouldn't buy anything too expensive until you get out and see some equipment at work and develop your own opinions. Good luck and welcome to the club. The sickness only grows from here! ;D

I agree choot, hunt for at least another before spending money on decoys, however spend the money now for a good pair of waders and a good waterproof jacket. The time to buy is after the season, when everything goes on sale, to include steelshot. Cabelas, has the best waders and good quality hunting clothes. I have bought some things from Bass Pro, but there aren't as good quality.

One of these comes in handy. Gets you into spots you can't get a boat. Play around with other peoples calls to see what you like. I can pick up any duck call and blow it half decent but short goose calls are touchy. They're all so different to blow. Always good to keep some handwarmers in your bag. If there's a lot of action you might have your gloves off calling for while.
