I was starting to get worried, hadn't seen any of my namesake yet this spring. St. Patrick's Day is the traditional date of Osprey return, but the last few years I've seen my first in the March 3-5th range. Took an hour kayak paddle up the creek this morning, but I found the first one! ;D Six of them actually, looked like they just showed up. Must have been some of our normal local birds, they circled me for awhile as I whistled/called to them. Don't think my pair was with them though - got a pair normally in my cove as well, even built a new nest platform for them this week, but haven't seen them yet.

Here you go Osprey, this ones for you The link below is of a realtime camera at the Pomonkey creek off the Potomac River, where we live. It's got live cams of Osprey nest. www.sigma-financial.com/defaulteast.htmThis is also where we bowfish! You got to make it over here this summer for that!

I couldn't find the live cam, maybe they don't have it up until they start nesting?
Never done any bowfishing, sounds like fun.

I actually got the tattoo last summer, then used it as my avatar, not the other way around. It pretty much sums up everything I do. Buck Wild and to the extreme. The picture is right after it was done thats why it looks red and puffy. Did I mention how much I love Hunting?

Hardcore is truley just that!! My tat is an eagle carring a ribbon with "The Right To Keep And Bear Arms" in it. I'll get a photo soon and post it, it's a little faded and hairy because it's 25 years old. I got it after I became a Life Member in the NRA in '82.

Well, my birds started the year by ignoring my new nest platform, chose a dead pine on the far side of the cove instead. Had a nice nest built, but the tree blew over in a storm over a month ago. But they renested on my platform, ten feet from the dock! She's been sitting for an awfully long time, but at least one chick has hatched, I can hear it and just see the head if I stand on the dock pilings. Need to take the camera down there and get some pics!

No haven't named the chick, but I saw today that she has TWO in the nest! ;D She was hollering and fussing at me while I was cleaning fish today, didn't want me anywhere near her babies. I'm fluent in osprey, and the language she used, especially toward the guy who helped build her home, was just horrible!

Walked out on the dock this weekend and both young birds stood, flared feathers and hissed at me. Then one jumped up and flew! Not his first flight, either, as he looked pretty good in the air.
