For the Marylanders, Does anyone know the rules/laws about bringing along others on hunts? I looked on DNR's website and couldn't find much. Basically I want to make sure it's legal for me to bring my girlfriend along for a hunt, eventhough she doesn't have a license and wont be shooting or even holding the gun. I'm trying to get her involved, and she's mildly interested, in my hobby/obsession. thanks, B

I dont think that she would need a license but i would get one anyways, that way she could take one if she wanted to. My wife shot her first deer a 6 pt with me maybe 50 yds away watching wish i would have brought the video camera

I took my wife back when she was my girlfriend. I keep bugging her to come with me so that she could experience the thrills of seeing deer from a stand. We got up in a two person stand and after about an hour she fell asleep.Zzz. So I just let her sleep (figured she couldn't scare the deer that way) We never saw a deer that morning, but at least she got to see what it was like to wake up at the butt crack of dawn and get in a tree! I love Hunting!!

Big Fox, I'll talk to DNR about it and post. Jlwade, she hasn't taken Hunter's Ed so she cant get a license. I do think we may get her enrolled in a class this summer though. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that one. -- B

no need to do anything, as long as she NEVER touches the gun your fine. that is a motto i practice in my house anyway. i figure she can't use it on me if she doesn't know how to load it......

I just got an email from a DNR rep. The response... "It is legal if she is not hunting, or in possession of a weapon." So there ya go. So I'm assuming she can practice her turkey calling, as long as she's right with me...

Good Luck! I wish I could have got my wife involved in hunting. But that ship sailed a long time ago. Now I'll focus on my kids.
