I figured i would show y'all how I tie my slides. Hopefully y'all are using them with your Retrievers. This is simple to do , and saves you from cutting expensive 400lb fast Flite. Make 5" loop. Thread it through both holes in the slide. Loop it over the head. Then over the nock. This is how it should look when done. One advantage I have found with this is that if the slide breaks the loop will grab the shaft and you will still get the fish. I use the AMS Rings myself for big fish though. Slides are great for carp and gar though.

Hey thanks for the pics. I have been just making knots on to the slide. I was going to replace my line this year. I bought 200# muzzy orange line. I think like 15 bucks for the spool. Good enough? Or do you recomend the 400# line.

Or do you recomend the 400# line. In saltwater you just never know how big a fish can get. Cownose only run 50lbs, but like that picture of the roughtail you just do not know. I have even 45lb cownose break 200lb. That line is 500lb PowerPro. That is the only line I use myself, but it is not that easy to get. 400lb is a great line. I do not like the dacron anyway since the gar scale cut it so easy. If you use that gar stopper I posted though you would not have to worry about that. I have shot 3 gar on the same arrow so you do not have to worry about not getting penetration.

Thanks,
I'm with Hardcore. I've always taken the thing off to tie the knot - Pain in the neck.

I don't know a whole lot on bowfishing YET!
isn't the line held on by a little stopper, that has a little screw? How does this one little screw hold so much weight?

i bought a couple trolling/big water poles the other day at a yard sale. i am going to hook my Penn 30 to one and have the braided line hooked to my arrow for bow fishing. that way after the shot i get to pick up my rod and fight them on a fishing pole too... hopefully it works out the way i have it imagined in my mind.....

I talked to a guy who has won alot of stingray tournaments over the years and he said that is the only way he bowfishes. Very fast retrieval for another shot. Just make sure the bail on the reel is open, or something not good would happen.

Great way to hunt them by yourself. It is cool to see a ray rip a float across the water though.

Yes I think thats the guys name. I personally like to feel the cownose pull line through my bare hands. Thats fun for maybe ten or so, after that a float or rod would be a welcome change.
