Deer hunter you said that you have been seeing the gar out in the river when perch fishign. is it worth while to go try and stick a few out there or are we better to just wait another couple of months when they are up in the flat??? if you cannot tell i am excited to get back on the skiff with bow in hand..

Well, if you were VERY patient you'd be able to. I've seen probably 10 total in about 30 hours of fishing. The ones I do see are only for a split second so you'd have to be pretty quick & waiting at full draw with the bow in your hand.

Saturday afternoon once I get off of work. You can do all the bowfishing though. I'll just use a rod & reel.

They spawn around the first of June in lower Delaware is that when y'all start seeing them working the females? I shot this 48" gar a few years back. She does not look it, but was 18lbs full of eggs. Forgot to ask if y'all shoot them around the bridge lights at night. If you have a bridge that lights the water up at night you can shoot gar with the bridge lights before the spawn if it is between the main river and the spawning creeks, and they will be there all summer even when you stop seeing them on the banks. The lights draw bugs, which draws minnows, which draws the gars.

Awesome mount. I want to get something similar this year. Is it a fiberglass replica or a skin on mount? I am definetly doing a skull mount on a big female. I got some really big ones last year but didn't weigh or measure one at all. I really like your mount! I bet non bowfisherman look at it and say "What the heck is that"

When I shot her she had 6-8 males around her. Took me 4 hours to clean the gar that were big enough to eat at the end of the day.
