Steve glad to see you posting some pics. I can't wait till this summer. Those pictures are awesome. I'm sure everyone else will see how into the sport you are. You have already shared a wealth of knowledge with me. Do you have any tournaments your competeing in anytime soon? I'll definetly give you a call to let you know when we are going to be out in OC so we can hook up and do some shooting. When you get time, put up that picture of the golfish you shot, a monster even for goldfish standards! By the way the pic of the ray swimming away after a second shot hits it is my favorite, it should be in a magazine or something.

Picture will be in my next BAA article! ;D Sharks are very hard to come by, and the more people in a boat the harder it is to bring one in. Best is to drift with chum not too long after daybreak, then hunt southerns after that. Where are y'all staying? Pokomoke Inn/ Motel/ Hotel? is the best central location for Maryland/ Virginia southern hunting, and Chrisfield is not that far away if you want to hunt cownose at Cedar and Smith Islands. Tropical Isle Campground also has cabins that sleep 3 with a bathroom in there. $120.00 a night, but not bad split 3 ways. How long are you staying. I would be happy to guide y'all for a day or so. Once I show you where to go and how I hunt them you would do fine without me. If we shoot gar together in the spring I'll show you some alternate spots you may need to hit if the winds are wrong.

That sounds good. I can say the gar bowfishing was real nice last year. Hopefully better this year. We'll have to pick a day with the best conditions before you make that long drive. I think our southern ray trip will only be one day. But I'm open to suggestions as to where to go.

If y'all are flexible on when you are able to go I will put you giant stingrays. I just started at a new job, so I have no vacation time at all. I run about 55lbs for the average ray, and have never hunted more than 2 days without giving someone the shot at a 90-100lb ray. I was tought by the best there is. Rob Davis Sr. has been a good friend for 18 years. He is a great person and has done more for bowfishing than any 10 people put together. When I adopted my son he was as proud as my parents, and demanded that he put my son on his first southern. You can't go for one day and expect a crack at a shark. They are just not there these days. I killed one every 2 days of stingray hunting just by chance 10 years ago. We need 2 mornings of chumming before stingray hunting to even give you a 25% chance of killing one. Shelly's Bay has tons of sand shark to shoot. If y'all are set up for night shooting we may be able to shoot some flounder and weakies.

Not set up for night fishing yet, but that may change between now and then. When are you going out locally. We are gonna give it a go at the end of march, maybe into april. Are you planning on bringing your boat also?

Shot some suckers yesterday. I shoot fish 12 months out of the year. Shot this grass carp last week. I'll be out in the boat next Sunday in Delaware and Monday by the Susquahanna Flats in Northeast Maryland. ;D Next month it is flounder, redfish, catfish and hopefully my first bowfin in South Carolina. 30lb Grassy

Seen a few twice as big, but I was looking for bowfin and catfish. I'm going back down next month for cats, flounder and bowfin. That will be all the long trips till I go shoot paddlefish and bigheads in August in Kentucky.

Paddlefish are one of the coolest looking fish I have seen. Good luck. You know I'm going down to south carolina to bowfish in the middle of July. Give me any helpful pointers you can think of. And I can't wait to see some pics. Paddlefish pic

In Kentucky you are able to shoot 2 per person per day. They just made shooting them at night legal. Great area for giant bighead carp as well. Paddlefish have been way up on my wish list for a long time. They are a great fish to eat as well. South Carolina is one of the best bowfishing state in the country. If you go with Flathead you should be able to shoot flounder, redfish, stingrays (very small though) and bonnethead sharks all in the same area. INland the catfish shooting is amazing. Plenty of bowfin down there as well (mudfish to SC bowfishermen). That is my favorite fish out there. I just don't have luck with getting one. This will be my second trip down with them as the top target!

I don't know of any guides, but we do know some good spots for rays. Where are you coming from? If you want I'm sure you can come out on our boat in the afternoon to shoot a few. Or bring your boat and we can follow each other to same area. Plenty to go around!

Randy Birch is the only guide I know of for southerns. T.J. Jenkins that has Muddy Marsh Outfitters guides for cownose, and I have someone in Baltimore that would guide you on Mondays only. He is a commercial crabber and that is his off day. If you are flexible about going on a week day I could take you for southerns for one day in the Chincoteague/ Assateague area. $45.00 for the cabin. If you pay for the cabin or split the cabin I'm in!
