We have set a date to go bowfishing in Ocean City MD this summer. We will be going to Chincoteague Bay, near Assoteague island, to bowfish for southern stingray. They are bigger than the cownose, up to 100 plus pounds. The date will be Saturday, June 2nd 2007.

I keep threatening to do just that every year, when I'm in the lower Pax at first light, and the cow nosed rays are all over the surface.Hmmm, still have my old Bear Whitetail I bought back in '77,when picking a compound was EASY!

I have been talking to a guy who lives in Delmarva DE about bowfishing Southerns. He bowfishes for them in Ocean City every year. He said his biggest one is 120lbs!!! Although he said June 2nd is too early. He said July into begining or August is when you take the BIG BOYS. So we may have to push the date back a bit. He even offered to come along and show us some great spots.

Complete waste of time that early for sure. End of July / early August is when we shoot all the 100lb+ rays, and sharks are not in good till then as well.
