Last year buxupinya and myself were turkey scouting. WE heard some gobbles at day break in the swamp. We got within 50 yards of the birds by mistake, i didn,t realize how close they actually were. Any how after about 20 minutes they started to fly out of the roost. A hen first and then 2 gobblers hit the ground, and more turkeys that we could not see. All of a sudden the 2 gobblers squared up and started to fight , kicking and clawing each other with feathers flying everywhere. This went on for at least a minute. It was the craziest thing i ever saw. I wish i would have brought a video camera. I will never forget the expierance!!! Does any one else have some crazy turkey stories like this, i would really like to hear them!

Saw a hen get bred. One,two, three,DONE! Then she shook off just like a hen chicken does afterwards.

I saw a fox catch a bird out of the air while turkey hunting. It was pretty sweet! After he jumped up and grabbed it he came running right to me. I thought I was going to have to shoot it. It was standing 2 to 3 inches from my boot. It ran away when I moved my foot, luckly not in the direction of the turkeys. 30 seconds later we haad two turkeys down!

Besides turkeys, I've also called in while turkey hunting a skunk (got away from him), two raccoons at different times (both now dead, the one all the turkeys gobbled at the shot and I killed a jake 10 minutes later), couple foxes (one is dead) and a feral cat (bang).

I had a pair of foxes come running to my call last year as I was standing along a ditchbank trying to locate some birds. One (I'm guessing the female) stopped when she saw me. The other one jumped the ditch and ran within about 15-20 feet, barking at me the whole time. I must admit, I was about to let him have a load of 4s but he ran off. Still cracks me up that I was half-scared by a 10lb squirt like that.

Why do you think they came to you ? Or they were just passing through?? Hungry! Either looking for a hen or eggs to eat. The one coon was definitely coming to the call, would angle more towards me every time I yelped.

while bow hunting 2 yrs ago saw a fox pile leaves up at the end of a log and lay in them about 50 yd's away a little while later a squirrell came down the log and the fox played his hand a split second to early and the chase was on until the squirrell ran up a tree and barked like crazy for 30 minutes the fox stayed around about 10 minutes then left no breakfast that morning.
