Well Im thinking all the turkeys have bee blown out of their trees with all this wind. I spent an hour and a half cutting up a big red oak that uprooted and fell right on my dirt road tonight. Just what I felt like doing after working all day. LOL
With the turkeys normal patterns disturbed by the weather, I imagine the first calm morning will be awesome. Bet they got lots of gobbles stored up!

I think your right Hardcore. I'm counting on it. I'm going to do some last minute scouting tomorrow. I doubt they will be gobbling in the morning but I'm going to see anyhow.

I'll be out there too - wonder if I should hold off on the bow until next week? NOPE, but I sure hope the wind isn't like this tomorrow or I might actually have to.

Any ideas of what to do in the morning to get a chance at a bird? Not sure this cold weather that we've been having is going to help the situation out any.

My plan is to just see what happens early in the a.m. If I can't get anything going on the roost or shortly after fly down, I am going to sit in a spot where I have killed turkeys before. A little honey hole I guess. Decoys out and call a lot. I have killed more between 8-12 than I have between 6-8. My advise is to sit tight where you know birds frequent with the deeks out and keep your eyes peeled! Good Luck!

Thanks. Think I'll try the roost thing & if that doesn't work, I'm going to go and sit under my deer stand. I saw them quite a few mornings walking the same path, right under me.

I've been pleased with the wind and rain lately - should have kept lots of people overscouting/calling/messing up the birds on public land the past few days, and I know where they are from Saturday youth hunting. Know exactly where I'm going to set up even if there are no gobbles. But yeah, if you don't hear anything sit tight in a good spot all morning, that's good advice for any weather. On my place I was getting worried again, as late as Saturday afternoon still hadn't seen a bird or any sign of scratchings down there, but today there were 4 birds in the field, one a Tom, and the woods in front of one of my log blinds looks like a tractor and disc have been in there.

I got butterflies in my belly. Wind supposed to die down over night. Morning should be interesting, as opening day always is. Good luck everybody.
