This past weekend I drove along a spot that I normally hunt, a place where I called in a bird for a kid on youth day last year - about half the woods was gone and the logging equipment was still sitting there!! Birds will just move to another woods for awhile, but that would be a heck of a thing to find in the dark on opening day.  |

I know what you mean - kind of stinks. I went out at lunch today & saw 2 jakes though. Too bad I can't hunt there.

I agree. Pre-season scouting is important for any hunt. Now imagine not being able to do it (e.g., my predicament this year). Any suggestions for me. I'm going out this weekend to one of my hunting spots, but the next time I'll be there is opening day (hopefully at least the night before). What should I do?

Just short of what Osprey described, you should be OK as long as the following holds true. If there were turkeys in your woods during deer season, they will most likely still be there. If you were in your stand anytime this past fall and heard turkeys go to roost, you should be golden. I was in your shoes the first year I hunted in Maryland. I had no time to scout so I went to the woods that I had bow hunted briefly the fall before. I remembered hearing a hen feeding and roost within 200 yards. I went to that spot on opening day and scored a nice gobbler. Hope that helps.

Depends......if i go to the gym it's 5:30 am. If I'm takin it easy, 6:30 am.
Do you drive a blue truck (ranger)? I've seen one of you guys driving with a huge buckwild decal in your window.

I drive a Silver Nissan with the BIG decal in the back. I do the same Gym-5:30 or sleep in-6:30. What gym do you go to?

I have seen someone driving (flying) down 210 in what looks like a blue ranger - the cool part is I don't know who it is.
