I was born and raised on the eastern shore of MD, but now go to school in VA and my girlfriend just moved to Columbia, MD for work. That said, where do y'all hunt out there (public land)? It'd be nice to get some hunting done over on the other side. Also, am I correct in assuming that there's more pressure on birds over there? -- B

Where in VA? Central MD or far west? I started hunting turkeys in western MD, mainly Garrett, when I went to Frostburg, and still get up there once in a while to hunt.

LOTS of public land in Garrett if you are near there.

In VA I'm in Gloucester Point. It's right outside of Yorktown/Newport News. She just moved to Columbia, so I guess the closer the better. I was thinking Howard, Frederick, Anne Arundel, or Montgomery counties. -- B

Yeah, I've checked it out. I need to get up there and do some scouting. I imagine the birds get really, really pressured.

That seems to be the case most everywhere. The first week, before the leaves bud, when there has been no pressure yet, is like the rut for me. My favorite time in the turkey woods. Towards the end of the season, kinda like the end of deer season. The turkeys are wary and its a lot tougher to fool em.
