Thought this would be a cool thread people can add to by posting tips and tricks they use to turkey hunt.
I get in the woods an hour or half hour before light and use an owl call to get the turkeys to shock gooble, thats when they can't help but to gooble back as a reaction to a noise, to give away there location. I walk to within a hundred yards and get set up before it gets light. I use my mouth call or slate call to softly or agressivley cluck at the gobblers to let them know theres a hot hen looking for love.

If you're hunting on the Shore in a spot that has sikas, carry a sika call. A bugle makes a great locater call. Birds will normally gobble to it and every nimrod in the woods isn't blowing on one like crow calls.

If you've got private land to hunt build a blind before the season starts. I'm working on 'em now, using dead wood to make them, stacking logs 'log cabin' style 2-4 logs high around a big tree in known strutting zones and open areas. Make great spots to sit and hunt, with a few located strategically you can almost always have one close to birds. The logs even make a good gun rest and they're great for hiding fidgety kids.
If you really want to be sneaky go in with a rake a week or two before the season and rake a path down to bare dirt into the blind. I've done that and been able to sneak in the dark almost under roosted birds.

I pluck the feathers, cut off the head and feet, then stick my hand you know where & pull everything out. Not really much to it.

I do 'em just like most waterfowl I kill, just skin off the breast and fillet the breast chunks off. Legs are normally tough as crap and not much to them anyway. Soak them in some olive oil and lemon pepper and let them be caressed by the heat of a red hot grill.

Looks like some inbreeding of domestic and wild stocks, it's your civic duty to eliminate those half-breeds before they pollute our beloved wild turkey!!! SNARES, I'm thinking SNARES!!!! Or you could pull an old Eastern Shore goose trick - soak a bucket of corn with rum and then feed 'em. When they start staggering around just go wring their necks.

That sounds like a good idea?? But does it matter what kind of beverage you use? You know the smell might turn there no0se or it doesn't matter?

I make a little cut between the two legs and stick my hand in that way. It works good for me, and is pretty quick. You can do this in the field and plick it later, when the bird cools down. It helps the feathers come out easier.
