Haven't filled the deer tag just yet, but I did get my bird this past week. Nice tom, about 11" beard, 22 yard shot. Muzzified him And yeah, I've been here so long I'm turning into a damn cowboy...

Nice bird. I saw 28 sat. morning and not one deer. Heard clucking fifty yards away when they were on roost. Heard a jake gobble four times within a half hour. It felt like spring season was here already. When they all flew down they walked a ridge behind me in a single file line about thirty yards away. Not one single long beard. Saw a few jakes and mostly hens but not one had a beard longer than three inches. It did however get me excited for spring!

I got my first turkey this spring, but with a shotgun. Now that I have that under my belt, I'm going to hold out until I can get one with a bow. Nice bird!!

I shoot them out there with a bow because I have to, the ranch is bow only. It's my third gobbler there with bow, and it's fun and all, but I think I still prefer the BANG-FLOP method. Something about the loud boom on birds. ;D That said, however, I'm going to work on an eastern with bow this spring, may as well start on a slam by bow. Got this neat photo out there of two toms fighting, I almost think they were locked together at the mouth! Snuck up and took the pic just over a small rise, maybe 40 yards from them.
