Anybody seeing any birds while deer hunting? I don't normally see many in the fall, although I'm covered up at my place in the spring (thank god it's not the other way around!), but I'm not seeing many anyplace. We got hit with those really heavy rains in the spring during nesting season and everybody down here is giving bad reports. Quail got hit too, lots of renests and small groups of young and tiny birds very late in the summer.

I see them more than deer in Southern MD. On two main properties that I hunt I see em almost every time I go out. Thursday evening i saw about twenty in a field fifty yards from where I was for about an hour or so. Those things were as loud as they could be. I kept trying to remember the patterns of clucks to try them in the spring.

I see them pretty often as well, or at least hear the things, though this time of year I would rather see deer!!

Didn't actually see them, but had at least 6 Toms gobbling their heads off across the road from me this morning! If it weren't for the changing leaves and honking geese I'd have thought it was spring, too, very warm morning.
