Havent been able to get out for about a week now and was wondering if the bucks are now in the post rut stage? what tactics are everyone using now? scents, rattling, grunts, or just the usual corn?

from what i can tell they are still rutting. this morning a big eight chased a lil buck off and ran a doe around a wide open field for about a half hour.

I had a nice 8 walk up to me at 2:15 this evening. I had just settled down and wasnt expecting it and he saw me, blew and ran off. I think he was cruising for does so it looks like they might still be rutting.

I saw a group of six does on Saturday morning and no bucks around. All of the scrapes that were around my stands are covered with leaves and aren't being tended to. Two weeks ago we were seeing the bucks and scrapes were clean , this weekend no bucks were seen and scrapes unattended.

Seeing doe's but no bucks with them. All the scrapes are not being used, covered with leaves got me worried about the first day of shotgun. But things can change alot in 5 days

WHEN THE SCRAPES ARE NOT BEING TENDED TO, DOES ARE GETTING BRED. THE LOCK DOWN PERIOD SUCKS. SHOULD BE CHANGING SOON. OUR RUT SUCKS BECAUSE OF TO MANY DOES, TRICKLE RUT EVERY YEAR. I HAD A 170 PLUS COME TO MY CORNPILE ON YOUTH DAY BUT THE LITTLE GUY WITH ME COULDNT GET IT DONE. WHATS UP WITH THAT. THEY SHOULDNT EVEN BE THINKING ABOUT FOOD THIS TIME OF YEAR

Meatgrinder, you are right on. I think it is right at the peak of the rut. Lots of little ones running around. My scrapes haven't been getting hit, but bucks are on their feet.

Went out fri evening and again on sat am&pm. Only saw one doe. But there is a fresh scrape line and pretty good size rub being tended to. Hopefully I can catch up to him this weekend. Also, Friday morning on my way to work saw a nice buck chasing a doe through a corn field.

My wife called me at work around 4:00 today to inform me there was a 10point bedded with a doe next to the house. Too bad he wasn't there when I got home. I would imagine some does are still hot.

John1967 welcome to the site. This years rut hasn't been as hot and heavy for me as years past. It could be where I'm hunting or just the wrong days. I do put a little blame on the warmer weather. I'll try one more bowhunt Thanksgiving morning and see what happens before gun season.
