Tell me what you guys think about the new regulations for Charles and St. Marys counties - Firearms season is open from January 12 through March 29.

I think you can keep it over there, because I certainly don't want to see it on the Shore! I still don't know how it got through the legislature, but that part of the state is screwed.

Not happy about this at all! Not happy about the additional winter turkey season either. Cannot believe these 2 seasons got through. Meat hunters should have a field day possibly being able to harvest a 200lb antlerless animal in February and March. I have a feeling many a gobbler will be shot off of peoples late season corn piles as well. The only time they raid my feeding areas are after December. MD does it again!

I would like to hear all the opinions PROS AND CONS. I am undecided. I would love to kill a big buck like the next guy but for me it is a secondary purpose. As a meat hunter I am all for getting the meat I need as I have limited time to hunt. I know that the turkey regs are more questionable for me as I think that turkeys will be shot off bait piles and killed with improper weapons. Just curious as to what exactly you all think.

One CON that I have is that I believe people will just go out and shoot deer for the sake of doing it....(wasting the deer/not eating/donating it.)

I think that is def a possibility but I also believe that happens now. Hope everyone can get out and get a few early season deer with the bow! Good luck!

Sets a dangerous precedent, allowing the legislature to dictate what SHOULD be science based decisions on political whims and posturing instead.
Farmer have too many deer/too much crop damage? Let more folks hunt, within already existing seasons. Make existing hunters SHOW you a doe or two, or TEN, before you let them take a buck. Offer to mentor youth, women, new hunters, DAV hunters, etc on YOUR land. It really can be as simple as that.
We already have crazy long seasons: if you can't kill enough deer within those seasons, I'm thinking maybe the problem ain't with the length of the season.
Point restriction are the same, a JOKE. You kill what makes YOU happy, and I'll do the same.

I agree with you davep. Its getting a little out of hand with the length of the season. I do not like the idea of stretching it out any further than January. It is so difficult to get onto properties due to liability reasons as well as hunters who only want the bucks. Farmers should require specific amounts of doe before a buck can be taken.
