Was getting very worried my streak was going to end this year the way things were looking. I've had three nice bucks killed from the same ground blind during early muzzleloader season the last three years, but the warm weather and southerly winds were making it tough this year, hadn't even seen a nice buck by midday today. But it seems providence smiles upon the persistent flintlocker, for with a half hour left to go tonight, and 7 yearling deer all over the food plot, this boy finally made his way out. I could hear him making scrapes back in the woods for ten minutes before he got out where I could see him. Chased some of the yearlings off, then presented a 25 yard shot, took him in the neck and he never made it off of the field. The streak lives! ;D Sorry the pic isn't too good, but it was getting dark and I needed to get him cleaned and to the cooler at the butcher shop.

Way to get it done and way to ruin my night! Just when I was thinking about deer hunting for a second, you go and ruin it. That has to be the buck from your trailcam pic. Tall with small brows. You get him on the scale at Emmit's?

No, didn't weigh him just skinned him out and got him in the cooler. I guess he's the one in the trail cam pics, he looked bigger with the velvet on I guess. Just doing a skull cap mount, hard to justify a full head unless it's bigger that what's already on the wall.

Continued on tonight, filled one of my antlerless tags with another longrifle. Have a little .40 caliber Bedford percussion rifle I built last spring, needed to get it bloodied!

That is a nice buck! I didn't see anything with antlers during black powder. I didn't even realize that the rest of the week was still doe black powder. I hunt my own property and don't bother paying the exorbidant hunting license fee any more. Didn't have the hunting book to refer to.
