Took two kids out this am. Went down to Nanjemoy and split up. No one heard anything on the roost! we had 800 yards covered and we heard nothing! Disappointed. Went into the public land on Doncaster and walked and called and scouted. Heard and saw nothing. One kid and his father left so we went to a private spot and went to bottom of yard and set up decoy. Within 2 minutes I called in a hen. It came from spot where they nest. Could some be nesting already? Heard nothing there. Went to chapel point and walked a ton! Not familiar with area. Found one spot and called. Heard one gobble in distance. Set up and had a hen come close. Two gobblers sounded off in the distance. I assume he was wanting his hen back. After that we heard nothing. I really wanted to get this kid his first bird! I'll hold off my bird this year until I get him one. just don't have a lot of chances to get out. Good luck everyone!

It was DEAD for us Saturday. Heard two birds a LONG ways off, in opposite directions, sound off a few times at first light, then that was it. \ There had been 3- 5 birds there gobbling a LOT rthe week before, but had slacked off a few days prior.
Did see one strutting, out in a field on the way home.
