Don't know if you've heard or not, but next week DNR starts the process of new reg changes for the next 2 year cycle with the stakeholders meeting. These are still just concepts at this point, but soon will be - in some form - proposals put out to the public for comment.
Big things for whitetails are reducing the buck back limit to one in each weapon season, statewide, meaning the most you could take would be three - one bow, one MZ and one firearms for the year. Also would expand all of zone B to be unlimited antlerless bag limits, just like the suburban zone is now.
Thoughts, comments?

I like the 3 buck only change, will give the bucks a break and allow allot of the younger class bucks to make it to mature age 3 to 4 years old and as a result we should see some improvement on big buck opportunities.

Against the unlimited does in all of B, but in reality, how many folks kill 1/2 of what we are currently allowed? Plenty of "ghost does" "killed" so folks can get after that second buck also.
From 1 zone, to 4 zones, to 2 zones, (with exceptions), to ?
All I know is that in many of the areas I hunt, herd is MUCH smaller than it was 10-15+ years ago. I got spoiled.

Dave the main reason I like the 3 buck idea is that people won't have to call in two does, DNR may actually get a real count on the antlerless kill for a change. I bet the reported kill goes down 25% on does if this goes through.

I like the 3 buck a year bag limit myself. Osprey, I definately agree that the antlerless "harvest" would fall. I think it may fall by even more than 25%.
Also, on the unlimited antlerless - I do not think that this would impact the actual number of deer killed at all. As it is now, 36 deer is WAY more than I need or want to even mess with. Hell, even half of that is more than I would kill.
Dave, I saw more deer even 5 years ago than I have the past 2 seasons.

I don't know, maybe this will work against itself, or at least be a wash as far as antlerless harvest.
Some guys kill does just to get after that 2nd buck. Might quit after 1 now.
Maybe reported AND actual kill will fall.

I would be OK with the 3 buck limit but not 1 per weapon. I like the option of taking a cull/crippled buck early during bow season but still be able to hunt the rest the season for a chance at a true trophy. I have only killed two bucks in one season once in my 25 years of hunting. But knowing I can keeps me in the woods. I imagine a lot of guys simply call in ghost does to get around the current rules. It would be interesting to know what the true numbers are. I'm sure the state would not go back to physically checking in deer at stations due to the expense.

This is probably a good idea. I only saw one buck this past season and that was on my trail cam at 3am. And he was a year old at best. Does were all over the place
