They finally started to move for me with this cooler weather. Barely in the stand 20 minutes tonight when a decent buck appeared from behind me, only 30 yards away. .270 knocked him over, he got up and I threw another at him through some small pines, then he turned and stumbled back toward me on the trail I walked in on. Dropped him there with a final shot. First bullet probably killed him, but if they're still moving I'll keep shooting. He's the perfect rifle buck - 8 points, big enough to shoot but not big enough to pay to mount! When I got my hands on him I realized it's actually a buck I passed twice with the bow when the rut was just beginning and that my buddy got on film for his TV show during the week of doe muzzleloader. I'll try and get some pics in the daylight tomorrow before I start butchering.

Nothing huge, but sure got plenty of meat off him. I'll save my monster killing for Iowa late muzzleloader season I guess...

That's just the hair tufted up from getting him out of the woods.
