Dave, that sounds just horrible. I've cleaned so many mallards with rice breast around here that even the thought of duck over rice makes me want to yak.

That is why I only breast birds out now: can't imagine picking one that had rice breast and then roasting and eating it w/out knowing. YUCK! Seen it in more black ducks than mallards.

You mean that isn't rice that the ducks ate? I've had a bunch that had that. I thought it came from impoundments with wild rice.

wow, can u eat the bird? my dad knocked down a few geese in my yard this year and none of that was evident on these birds thank god

If you cook it well it should be fine to eat, just nasty. Never seen it in a goose, and used to see it a lot more in mallards when there were more RSA birds around.
