I went out Friday morning and didn't see any deer as usual. I had to get down early to take care of a few things. Went two miles down the road to pull my fox traps. It was like 9am. I brought my gun just in case I saw a deer. When I got to my fifth trap I looked up and saw a deer in an opening on a field edge. Just staring at me, broadside. I threw my gun up took the 80 yard shot. The deer stumbled back in to a barb wire fence and broke a post. Ran about 100 yards. Turned out to be a buttonbuck, thought it was a doe, but boy was I happy. Go a month with out seeing any deer, then when I'm not wearing any camo, in the middle of a field, mouth full of sunflower seeds, I see one. Sure was glad I had my gun! Anybody else having any luck?

We're FINALLY seeing deer again! I saw 4 Wednesday morning(1 dwarf,2 buttons, and a doe with the scours/severe hygiene problem) Wife went out that evening, and right at the edge of dark, she saw 12 ears come over the hill. All baldies,so she took the biggest one.

Better a clean miss than to wound the animal, but it sure is frustrating to miss!! Good luck if you get out for the 2 day gun season.

I think he told me it was 23", but don't quote me on that. It was a pretty wide deer though. He was pretty happy too
