Fall has probably got to be the best time of the year with all the tasty dishes running through the woods and this saturday another one gets added to the list.
I was gonna head up to the deep creek lake area next week to try and bag a gobbler for the fall season. Probably hunting public land mostly.
Anyone else ever hunted turkey up there during the fall season before? Tips? Success stories? recommended spots?
hopefully all goes well and I can post some pics after the 6th.

Only fall hunting I've done was in North Dakota. Set up between roosting and feeding areas out there, took three nice gobblers with the bow like that over several seasons.
I am going to hit Ohio's fall season, with the 16ga flinter. Hopefully have something good to report on that! Good luck in Garret County, great time to be out that way.

Thanks Osprey and good luck to you out in Ohio. Hopefully we'll both have some good reports to bring back.

Not much to report from Ohio. Tried a new area, didn't see or hear a bird or any sign of them. Three buddies were bowhunting and they never saw a turkey either, and damn few deer!

Spent the last couple days in Green Ridge SF just goofing off, but never SAW a bird. Wind was BLOWING HARD! Did see a fox squirrel, and some bear poop, LOL! Heading to Garrett county next week.

Well, me and one of my boys finally got on some birds in Savage State Forest. Shots were fired, but evidently, no turkeys were harmed during the making of our adventure. Did manage to put the cuffs on another fisher, and found out a Duke 1.5CS is NO MATCH for a bear,LOL! And those hills are WAY too steep!

Well I made it out to Deep Creek for the weekend, and went out on some property near the Youghiogheny River corridor (about 10 min from Deep Creek). I didn't hear a PEEP (much less a chipmunk fart) Friday or Saturday. I was talking to some owners near the property I was at and they said a group of guys from the Eastern shore came in last week and took 8-9 toms out of there. So I'm guessing that coupled with the fact it got below freezing and snowing both days greatly reduced my chances. I found out about the hills too. My wife joked about calling out a search party, it took so long getting back up to the top. I did hear some coyotes attacking something on the other side of the river though (probably my turkey :-o) Oh well, there's always spring season.
