;D ;D ;D
I just had to tell you about the " HUNT OF A LIFETIME". November 2006 , My 12 year old son Matt tells me dad i want to go hunting with you. You don't know how proud i was to here him say this. So we planned a Bow hunt on a friends farm in Marbury for the day after Thanksgiving, We get there and get set up in the ground blind and the deer come out to the field but don't give us a shoot, but its all good he is pumped up and so was i, 04:30 opening morning we get up and head to Nanjemoy to meet Smitty,Mike,Roy,and Zag at Zags house, what a day the deer moved all morning, but best of all i got to spend some quality time with my son!! we saw several deer over the next couple of days but on December 7th 2006 i was never so proud when late in the evening a little doe walked into my corn pile, well needless to say my d**n 50 Cal. miss fired, so i try to get another cap on when out of no where this buck walked up. Again the gun miss fires i am getting frustrated, I put another cap on and click, just as i went to pull up to check it the gun goes of, the buck turns to run but i can see he is hit. I key up the radio and tell Smitty i hit one but he is still alive and i was on my way to get Matt. When the three of us get back to my stand, the deer was trying to get his stuff together and my Son Matt loaded up the single shot 20 guage and put the final shot on his first deer!!!! With a big smile on his face that will last me a life time he said I got him dad. Smitty and I both assured him you sure did, last man to shot and kill a deer has all rights to claim the deer. I was never so proud in my life. The 17 inch 8 point buck weighed in at 128 pounds dressed. Well needless to say i burned up the battery on my cell that night. On the ride home Matt asked are we going to get it mounted, and before he could finish i had already called my buddy Sonny the owner of Southern Maryland Taxidermy who congratulated me and my son and told me to tell Matt, he was going to put his deer right next to the Crutchfield buck which made the smile on the 12 year olds face even bigger.
Sorry for such a long story, But that WAS the HUNT OF MY LIFETIME!!!!!
I hope every father out there has a story like mine!!!!!!
As soon as i get the Pictures back i will post them.
