ok guys this morning i headed up to green ridge rolled in around 530 got to my spot heard some gobbling way off possibly the other side of the river. about 730 i had to stretch my legs as i stood up i saw something move bout 50-60 yards down the ridge i froze. What i saw next still has me shocked i saw what i believe was a mountain lion jump on a fallen tree and then down the the cliff. I was in shock i kept re playing what i had just seen over and over again. i grabbed my gun and slowly walked down to where i last saw it and looked around everywhere for any tracks but found nothing scanned over the cliff saw nothing. Now i know western MD has bobcats but this had a longer tail and sat pretty low to the ground. now in fairness i have never seen a bobcat in the wild but this cat appeared way to large to be a bobcat. after seeing this i left and headed to fort frederick to see my uncle who is nrp officer but his office is at fort frederick. i stopped in and told him what i had seen he called another gentleman on the radio who came down i told him and he said that while they do not believe there is any mountain lions living in MD but he said he totally belives what i saw may have been one and that it is belived there are transient lions that pass between PA MD and WV and that i very well could of seen one of them.
so no turkey but an awesome day. oh yea and saw a monster fox squirrel looked like a ground hog he was so big. got some video of him will try to post it later.

Bobcat. I saw photos of one that was caught and released from a fox set a few years back not far from there. Populations expanding in Md, WVa, and Pa. They have a lot longer tail than most people realize. Would not be at all suprised to hear of a fisher there as well. They are expanding East as well.
Lion ? You would have to have some pretty substanstial proof to make me believe there are any lions in Md. at all. Somebody's brother in law hearing his neighbor say a guy he knows saw what he thinks is a lion doesn't excite me much.

well guys like i said it happen so fast and since as i said i have never seen a bobcat in the wild just pics i could have been easily fooled but it would be really cool if it was a lion even though i know the chances are very very low that it was but either way it made for another very exciting day in the woods as most of you would agree coming home empty handed isn't always a bad thing and is a big reason i love hunting just seeing everything that is out there.

First time I ever saw a bobcat was turkey hunting in greenridge as well. He was pretty big. Came right by me. I yelped and he stood up on his hind legs looking for the noise.

I believe you saw what you saw it isn't that hard to believe a Mt lion hell I saw a coyote in Charles county 15 yrs ago and nobody believe me when I told it-- I'm 44 and been trapping my whole life and everyone said i didn't know what I saw!
