Ive seen a bunch of birds all over. Im up at school in Frostburg, and there crawling all over the fields everywhere in the early mornings. The toms are strutting and they are all still grouped for the most part.

I went scouting this past saturday, and i had 2 birds gobbling. A hen responded with some soft yelps and then a fly down cackle. I watched her head to where the toms were roosted. that sure got me fired up!

Frostburg gradiates, huh? Reminds me of 8th grade: worse three years of my life!!!! And speaking of turkeys, anyone else notice how GREEN it is in the woods? Visibility will be LOW in the woods, come the 19th. It has really greened up last couple days. %^%#$ heat wave!

Yes sir, well almost gradiate.
Up here in the sticks, it hasnt greened up too much. But as for back home my old man says its greening up like crazy. On one of our farms he watched a couple of toms mate hens in the fields all morning long.

I miss hunting up in the hills around Frostburg. When I went there 87-91 it was where I first started hunting them, thought they were ghost birds! Had some fun times even though I didn't kill one up there. Loved sitting on a mountain side listening to turkeys gobble and grouse drum. Weren't any birds on the Shore to hunt back then, even for a long time after I graduated it was the only place I could go to hunt turkeys. May have to hunt a morning out that way on my trip to Ohio when I head out...

Went over to one of my farms this evening because it was richeous cold up here in the mountains today. Saw a bunch of birds in the fields right before roost. They were still gobbling and the hens were still being bred. Snowflakes were falling from the sky for a good part of the day.
Pretty crazy, just yesterday i was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Today i was wearing jeans and a jacket. Gotta love the mountains.
