The other evening I was out sika hunting and had a really cool paddle back in the kayak. Was paddling along a small tidal creek in the dark, enough moonlight to not need the headlamp on, and heard this loud Sploosh! just in front of me. Knew something bigger than a muskrat had jumped in the creek, so turned on the headlamp to see a doe sika swimming the creek! A few seconds difference and she'd have jumped in with me! She got up on the other bank, stared at me with a strange look (as most females do ) and then alarm chirped. Sika started alarm chirping all over both sides of the marsh, must have been the middle deer of a herd of a dozen or more. Really cool night in the dark marshes of Dorchester. ;D

Nice encounter Dave. I hadn't heard from you so I figured you've been after them pretty hard. Shoot me an email and let me know what you've been seeing. It has been slow for me so far. I was planning on breaking out the kayak tomorrow evening, but with the weather I think I'm going to stick with the ducks.
