Well i was in the woods this morning at 6am spooked a few deer on the way in, heard deer moving around me once i got lighter i watch for about 30 mins or so does walking the power line they got to within maybe 15 20 yards and winded me but didn't take off one just kept stomping her hoof and snorting at me 8 times very cool experience got my blood pumping then they work back into the woods. about 25 mins later i heard something behind me got turned around and watched my buck working his way toward me but by now i had the sun right in my eyes, could not get a shoot and worked down the power line behind me once he was out of site i started to move hoping i could cut him off so what seamed like a hour later i saw him working back out of the woods and with the sun to my back i was able to set up my shooting stix and place a perfect heart shot on him at what i paced out to be 47 paces it was a great morning. now he was only a 4 pointer but he was my first buck! cant wait to hear how everyone's opening day went

Congrats !!!! My first buck I ever shot was a four pointer six years ago on opening day shotgun. I couldn't afford a mount so I let the skull sit outside for a while(like a year) And did a skull mount on a plaque. I went out to charles county in the am and saw 9 deer all within 40 yards. 5 fawns, 3 doe, 1 buck. The buck was a nice 8 pointer that I would have shot with my bow, but have seen four different wall hangers on that property in the last month. His antlers came to the end of his ears, young deer still. So after watching him thru my scope for ten minutes or so he walked off and I waited for something bigger. The does got pushed around and ended up running back by me a couple times. Lots of other people shooting all morning! In the the pm went to st. mary's and saw six does 300 yards away. On the other side of the swamp i hunt. Had a fawn sneak into my corn pile ten minutes befor dark. The smallest deer i have seen without spots, up to my knee. Not many shots fired near me. So no deer taken but a ton of action!

Just not big enough to use my buck tag up,. hoping to see a monster tonight though,. Hope everyone else had a good weekend and some success. I know over at mudducks house we have quite a seen in the meat locker. 4 deer hanging now including a nice 8 pt, a big 6 pt, and 2 does. hopefully get some more tonight to hang.....

congratulations on the Buck! I shot my first buck last year opening day @ 9:30, I've been hunting since 1986, he was a nice 9ptr. I was lucky enough to get a spike opening day this year around 7:30 ... one of the tougher shots I've taken .. about 70-80 yards through the woods, through a relativly small window in the brush. punched both lungs and he still ran 100yrds or so, he was stopped when I hit him. ... the one last year ran too, punched both lungs on him and he was stopped too, he only went about 55-70 yrds though. I'm not used to that, I've shot many doe, and they seem to drop on the spot when you let the air out of their lungs real quick like that. congratulations again on the first buck!

My Buddy Craig took his first deer. Good shot, double lunger. Nothing massive but he's hooked!

My dad got one on opening day - not a monster by any means, but he was proud. Got it with his new revolver blackpowder rifle.

Nice sika,wicomicojoe!
Went to my "secret" spot last Thursday, and found a gutpile within 30 yds of my tree! Will get after them again during late ML.Got my regular public land spot in Dorchester, plus I think I'm good on a private spot that isn't being hunted down below Crapo.
Had a good place in Church Creek during the 70s until mid 80s. Those things really trip my trigger for some reason!

I ordered it for him online at my favorite store, www.cabelas.comIt is a Uberti - this is one of Beretta/Benelli's partner companies. A 6-shot 45 Caliber. He is very pleased with it and able to shoot fairly well out to about 50 yards.
