Been on my lease the last several days planting food plots. Have not heard alot but seen plenty of birds including 1 big tom in full strut in a field. Cannot wait until Saturday, trying to get a buddies son a crack at one (provided the rain holds off long enough) !

Thanks big guy!! It was a great time. ;D Took a jake as time was running out. He had a five inch beard and a big ole red head. Mud Duck and I got to sample some of Tennesee's finest shine as well.

While I was driving down the road deciding where to park to do some public land scouting a flock walked out in front of me. Bunch of hen and a few jakes. Seems like a good omen. Good place to start anyway.

I was at a buddy's place up near Bedford PA the past two days, they were gobbling all over the mountain around his house this morning. I still hope they're there on the PA opener on the 25th, cause I will be!

Heard a few at work this morning, off in the woods. Wife said there was one out back early this am as well. Daughter is keyed up for Saturday! Now if we could just fix that %$#%&^ rain that's forecast!

A little rain wouldn't hurt, as long as it clears up at some point. I've had good luck right after a rain.

My FAVORITE is a day or two (or three!) of steady rain, then clearing late afternoon, turning calm and warm. Next morning is usually gold.

Was out this morning where I'm taking a kid tomorrow, heard a few gobbling and think I've got their roost pegged. If it doesn't rain too hard we may be in luck. The kid has a golden horseshoe anyway, so I'll be surprised if he doesn't get a shot.

Is 2pm considered morning?!?! We went this morning, heard one gobble, got completely soaked through. Switched to another spot later where we saw some birds in a field across from a section we could hunt, had the hens fired up and talking to us but they wouldn't come over. Kid had fun though, and he's hardcore wanting to hunt in the rain! Never saw another kid out anywhere around here this morning, but it was pretty wet and nasty...
