I just read an article and this is what "they" are saying about the 2006 Rut.
This year, the rutting moon falls on November 5. According to Alsheimer’s standard formula, the seeking phase of the rut begins four or five days before the rutting moon. That would be roughly November 1 this year. The chase phase usually begins a few days after the rutting moon, and thus the rut would promise to pick up real momentum by November 7 or 8. Peak breeding then will occur from roughly November 9 through November 16.
I’ve seen things break loose as early as November 1 and as late as November 10. I believe the moon could have something to do with where the magic three-day window falls within this ten-day period. However, I would hate not to be in the woods on November 6 through November 8 no matter what the moon phase data indicates.

That week I already told my wife. I'll be busy in a tree. Have dinner ready and right to bed to do it again the next day. I can't wait! The rut is my new christmas morning.

Never experienced the rut. Hope to this year though. Got to work it out with the Mrs. to see if she is off when I am so she can watch the kid and I can go have fun!

If your in the right spot at the right time the rut is an amazing time. You will see several different bucks chasing does. Back and forth, grunting, and having total disregard for anything around them. I have several experiences like that, You may see 7 or 8 bucks in a fifteen minute period. The action is hot and fast and unforgetable!

Things are just on the verge at my place, they just haven't gotten started yet for me. Scrapes have picked back up and the little boys are juiced, but I still haven't seen the big boy I've got on film. Did have a button come into the doe decoy this morning, he couldn't figure out whether to mount it or milk it!!!

Where I'm hunting in Charles County, the rut was wide open starting yesterday. I've seen over 2 dozen bucks this weekend, some nice shooters, only two does, and both of them were being chased.

I can't wait till my kids are old enough to take. I saw chasing bucks on two different properties today. The first time was 1:30 in the afternoon. Two bucks chasing a doe, total disregard for anything else around them.

I went into the woods on Friday and saw a slow moving 4 pt. That was about it. I wanted to take a doe with my bow but I didn't see anything! The squirrels were everywhere though! The rut is over for me. I won't be out again till the saturday after thanksgiving. Looking forward to hearing all of your stories.

Rut talk has kinda stopped, what is wrong fellas? I got a report from a reliable friend that he saw a buck chasing a doe yesterday. They were about 75 yards away and he saw antlers but couldn't really tell how big. Would this be considered late rut? Anybody have a thought?
