It's October and the local hunting stores are stocked with this years supply of Deer urine.
Is it still too early to start using doe-in-heat scents? I think so. Try to hold off at least until mid-October.
MY experience with diffrent scents is they all work to one degree or the other, but it depends on the time of the year, and what type of scent you are using.
Doe in heat scent doesn’t work very well if the rut is not in yet. Doe pee by itself is a good cover scent and curiosity scent. Other deer will smell it out of curiosity.
There is no magical deer scent out there which will make deer materialize from nowhere.
There are many diffrent makers and types of "DOE IN HEAT ", or “BUCK LURE” scents. We are about to start using a scent made by Downwind Scents, they are a local Maryland based company and have come up with a new type of scent foam. From what I hear it's supose to be great.
I will keep you posted on how well it does. We will be using it starting this weekend.

I must have spent an hour in the scent/attractant aisles alone at BPS on Sunday. Man! there are just too many!! Having never used them, I finally just grabbed what I happened to be standing by at the time, Tink's69 estrus doe gel, an estrus doe scent bomb, and some acorn cover scent. I figured I wouldn't use the estrus scents until mid to late Oct especially since it will be so warm this week. I'm jsut guessing here but I figure the warm weather may put the rut off a week or so. I was looking for something to make a scrape but couldn't decide. Let me know how Downwind Scents work.
