hey frank went out this morning and tried to get one with the bow. woke up alittle late this morning but went i came over the top of the hill the turkeys were already gobbling it was around 6:15. i got set up cut myself some shooting lanes and made a little blind in the base of a fallen tree. i hit the call and he hammered, after about 5 minutes he was coming in he didnt come in the way i was hoping he would he came in from my right and around the back side of the stump so i was exposed. he came in at 15 yards and went into a strut, then he came out of the strut and started looking around i didnt move a muscle. he saw something that he didnt like because he started clucking he got up on a stump and i got a good look at him he had the biggest rope i have ever seen on a turkey and i have killed some big ones but this one topped them all and of course i have the bow in my hand and cant do a thing about it. he got off the log and walked behind a tree and i drew he must have heard me because that sent him into overdrive and he was gone. i sat there on that log soo upset the biggest turkey i have ever seen and he would have been dead ten times with my shotgun. that was just the begining. around 830 i went and met up with two of my buddies we called and walked and called and walked nothing. we went down into a little honey hole and hit the call and there were gobbles everywhere. i eased in another 50 yards and sat behind a dead log and set up some decoys and hit the call they were coming in. couple seconds later i hit the call again and they sounded alittle further out so i got alittle more agrresive and cut to them and they hammered there were three of them. next thing you know there are two strutters 70 yards out. i told myself i wouldnt call to them anymore that they could see the decoys and they would come in. just then my buddy said lindy dont move there a big one coming in to the right he said white head, white head, the turkey came in from behind us and was at a long distance of 8 yards spitting and drumming we work his way around us and got behind a tree when he did my buddy was able to get the gun around on him and layed him out. 23 pounds 11 1/2 inch beard and only one spur he broke the other one off. so not turkey with a bow but i did get my buddy one.
