well i hunted from sun up till about 9:45 heard nothing saw one hen. packed up and went to the truck. I am unting public land so i decided to drive around to another parkinglot to see if anyone else was there. No one there so i killed the engine and decided to give a few yelps just for kicks and BAB gobble gobble gobble, grabbed the gun and dart into the woods maybe 30 yards and called again BAM gobble gobble gobble he was close went another 15 20 yards alongside a creek and sat down. gave a soft purr and you got it gobble gobble gobble. got my gun almost up to my shoulder and damn there he was and there was another one with him. Froze waited for what seamed like an hour probally a min for them to move behind a downed tree got the gun ready and here they came he was first so POP he went down like a rock. So 4 hours of sittin on I disagree and all it took was maybe 8 mins from the parking lot.
10 inch beard almost 1 inch spurs weight unknown.
Just got back from dropping him off at the taxadermist she said a year? anyone know why it takes so long to do a turkey? is it just because they have alot of deer mounts ahead of us.?

I know Big Fox's taxidermist told him a year as well. I can't see any reason for it, other than being backed up. When I took mine in on Monday I didn't ask & he didn't say, so I'm not sure.

Congrats on the kill, I just got my turkey back from Klines taxidermy in Smithsburg from last spring. When I dropped it off they said 11 months and thats about what it took. I'm sure it's because of the volume of work they take in.

Congrats on a fine bird! You sure do like taking pictures in the home depot parking lot. I seem to remember a few deer pics there as well.

Just got back from dropping him off at the taxadermist she said a year? anyone know why it takes so long to do a turkey? is it just because they have alot of deer mounts ahead of us.? That's a common turn around time. A lot depends on how many deer they have and wether or not they are full time or part time guys. Full time guys usually have a shorter turn around. I only do it part time so I will only take in a limited number at a time. Just to give you an idea, I usually have about 6-9 hours in a deer head from skinning to finished product. From the time I put it on the form until it dries is 2-3 weeks. You also have to factor in ordering forms and family time.
