LOL about the blackberries. I'm a bloody, stained mess!
Will pick another gal or two, for making preserves in the next few evenings.

Picked another gallon blackberries today, plus I picked my first PUMPKIN! One of the plants I had at the hunting farm, vines got off in ground where salt tides have turned the ground white and started dying off, so I had to pick the biggest one. Maybe 15 lbs?? 18" diameter?? I'm going to take it into work so there's an entry in the contest to start things off.

Here's something cool to try with pumpkins, esp if you have kids to share it with.
While they're still green, use a 16 d nail, awl, etc and SCRATCH in a kid's name, BOO, HAPPY HALLOWEEN, eyes, mouth, and nose, WHATEVER!
It'll seep a bit then heal up. Once it turns orange, the scars will be a neat, contrasting tan/brown, and raised up a little.
I've scared the hell out of more than one kid, when their name appeared in the punkin patch!

Wow - seems REALLY early. My biggest pumpkin so far is about the size of a marble.

Official weight was 15.52lbs. I've got others coming that'll be much bigger.
DaveP, another neat trick is to put a small growing pumpkin in a square paper milk container, as the pumpkin grows it'll fill the box and be a square pumpkin!

Really needing some rain right about now. Still not horrible, but a good shower is just what the garden ordered.

Dang it feels like fall today. After I cut the grass in the cool NW wind I picked 5 BIG pumpkins and pulled out the old vines for the compost pile. Really felt like I should be going in to watch some college football on TV for the rest of the day.
