Man that fish is butt ugly. looks like what we call a bofin or dog fish. and you can shoot at them anytime here. well when there not under a foot of ice.

Yeah they look a lot like bowfin but much bigger and more aggressive. I will shoot one on the MD side the first chance I get. If I got arrested I would be on the phone with FOX channel 5 and have them on my side. Can you imagine "Man gets in trouble for shooting dreaded snakehead" DNR would look like idiots. A guy told me just where to find them this spring, Lets get it on!

They are in Piscataway Creek. Seen 5 small ones the last time I was there on my only gar trip I made there this year.

Does anyone eat them? The Biologist that launch off the Maryland side say they eat them all the time. They say it has a thick white meat.

I've had them before. Pretty good. The meat is light and has a good texture.

Good eats. Can't believe I eat ANYTHING out of that part of the Potomac though. Uncle Buck's spicy batter makes it alright I guess. And watch out for grubs.Some are loaded. They nabbed one over 13 lbs week before last!
