Ducksnbucks, did you ever get that kit you were looking at? The kid I got one for is well into building his, we've got the barrel on and pinned, lock in, trigger mounted and working, trigger gaurd and buttplate on, too. He's working on the wood now, getting it all down to tight fit levels, and I think tonight at gun class (boy loves going to that, all the old guys have taken him under their wings) he's going to start inletting a cougar medallion his grandfather gave him into the stock. The kit hasn't been too bad (at least after I built that longrifle - would be much more daunting without having done that), just some minor wood work so far to get pieces to fit correctly. Only really poor thing about the kit I've seen so far is that it came with plastic sights!!!! What the heck is with that crap?? Already got him a brass blade for the front site, letting him think on which style he wants for a fixed rear site - he'll get to learn how to cut a dovetail in the barrel if he chooses right. While we're on the topic, HEY Deerhunter, did you ever get back to work on your pistol?!?!?! ;D

Yea, I finished it & sighted it in. Had it doing pretty good out to about 40 yards. I was confident I could get a deer with it out to that range. Loaded it up for hunting the next day & when I picked it up to walk out the door I noticed the front blade of the sight was gone! Now I have to work on getting a new one!

Frank, look at the Track of the Wolf site, www.trackofthewolf.com, plenty of blade sights on there, should be able to find one to fit. Not too hard to cut the dovetail larger if you can't find an exact macth. And next time remember to peen the dovetail so it doesn't fall out!!!

Sell it to Fox for sika hunting - he never sees any, so it won't matter about the sight!! And that would be all I'd need to see while getting out of the Jeep at Assateague - Dave running over the dunes!!! I'd turn right around and go home as fast as I could...

YEP!
He now knows that they actually exist. I wasn't on the site for a few days & thought you must have known! I surely wasn't going to hold this information - Big Fox, on the other hand,.......
