I met a guy yesterday who was telling me he only shot remington buckhammer slugs. He swore by them and said they had great knockdown power. Anybody try them before? I of course had to buy a box and see how they shoot. I first shot a regular slug, then a buckhammer. I kid you not when I say it had twice the recoil. I feel it more in the morning, can't wait to see what it does to a deer.

One of my brothers is using them. Said they work good. When his gun goes off! ;D (Firing pin problem cost him a BIG buck last week at Eastern Neck) Knowing him, I'm sure the pieces are scattered all over Kent Co

I saw a button buck that took one to the shoulder at around 30 yards. The shoulder was obliterated, but I dont think it broke the other side. Saw another one that entered one side of a buck's head at 150 yds and didn't come out the other side. If I used a shotgun, I'd probably have to give them a try.

Check this out... A 4 pointer was shot quartering towards at about 40 yards... The bullet shattered a shoulder blade, cut the heart in half, then lodged in the opposite hind quarter breaking the bone... It's a Federal Barnes Expander in 3/4 oz... Shot from a 12 guage winchester... Think maybe it should have opened up a little more???

I shoot the exact same Federal Barnes Expander. Shot 3 deer with it this year that have run a total of 30 yards. Leaves about a 2" diameter hole. I haven't found one of the bullets yet, though I have looked. Maybe you got a defect!

I got some of the buckhammers since they say they're okay to use with a rifled choke, and they work quite nicely (only use the shotgun if it's raining etc). Shot a nice little doe with it last year, went right through the top of the neck. I think the only thing holding the head on was the hide.

I have used winchester BRI which gives the best accuracy out of my gun but had 2 deer last year that went down within 20-30 yards but never dropped any blood. Tried the buck hammer and man it will leave a blood trail. Now I am using Hasting laser sabots and they shoot a little bit better then the buck hammer less recoil. And still drop them in there tracks. try them out
