Dave, what are you using to do them, bleach or a taxidermy compound or home brew mix? I've always used bleach, but the longevity of the skull afterward leaves something to be desired. Looks good, but that's not the part of Pepe that worries me!!
I've still got a bear skull to do sometime, need to get that out and do it.

I'm CHEAP! I NOW use regular, $.87/ qt WallyWorld peroxide. Does the samething, just takes a little longer. If you WANT to use the 30 vol peroxide, you can get it from hair salons (for bleaching), but it'll burn you! Bleach will weaken the skull and you sometimes get some pitting/chalkiness as a result.
I used to skin out deer skulls, then simmer with a little soapy water for an hour or two, being CAREFUL not to getr the antlers/pedicals wet.
Now, I follow someone else's advice, and simmer them hair and all. Then out comes the pressure washer. Secure them, wear complete rain gear, and goggles. and keep your mouth CLOSED. (Ask me how I know! YUCK!)
Then the peroxide treatment. Helps to use cotton balls, and cotton batting, esp up on top of skull and around pedicals. Baste if needed . Few days, then rinse well, and sun dry. Any loose teeth/plates, will get a little Elmer's glue.
Smaller skulls, I just started doing it the lazy/easy/SMELLY way! I skin them, then toss tem in a 5 gal bucket of water. Change water every few days. After a while, you'll have a clean skull, ready for the peroxide.

Hey DAVEP ARE YOU INTERASTED IN DOING THIS ON THE SIDE. THE WORK LOOKS GREAT!! I GOT A DEER IN THE FREEZER IF YOU ARE INTERESTED??? I thought about it, but I never seem to even get my own stuff done, so I'd better not. I have a big backup in my freezer now anyway of skulls, stuff I want to mount, etc It is fairly easy, but a bit messy.Someone had a thread in the Whitetail section last week called European Mount using a $20 kit from Gander Mtn that looks great. I'm sure folks here would talk you thru it, if you need.

Congrats, came out nice! I figure projects like these sort of keep me in "deer hunting mode" even after the season's done gone! Now wait until I post the DIY front hoof deer gun rack.
