Here's a pic of my Dad and I on a pheasant hunt in '94. He was young enough to make the trip then but now he 's 78 and just does a little deer hunting with me. I sure am gonna miss all the good times we had when traveling out of state to hunt together. He's a retired Marine Gunnery sgt./ drill instructor. He shot on the Marine corp rifle and pistol team in the late 50's and early 60's.Darn good shot. Maybe not the best hunter in the world but he's the best hunting buddy I ever had. He always made time to take me out to hunt. Thanks Dad

On a sad note, the shotgun in the picture was my first gun ever. Remington model 58 - stolen from the airlines when leaving Pierre, South Dakota. That really sucked

that really does suck, i had my house broke into when i was younger and came home form school to find my guns, just a 22 and 20 gauge gone and my brothers guns were gone too.. the idiots took a ruger 10/22 and left the clips.. freaking idiots..... i was distraught. I called my mom to tell her and she was like go check this and that to see if they got her jewelry and stuff and i was like "screw that, they took my guns." i kind of had an idea who did it since that was the only thing taken but the police could not prove it and nothing was ever recovered.... they got replace through insurance but it was not the same......

Yeah, we got the airlines to pay the value of the guns, Remington 1100 also, but it's absolutely not the same. You can't replace my first gun with cash.

Sucks to lose the guns, but cool pic and tale. Always special to hunt with Dad.
This has GOTTA be the year I finally hunt some ditch chickens when I go west for the winter, dang things are all over the Dakotas. Raised pheasants and quail when I was a kid, miss having some of those gaudy birds around.

It has to suck even more for you Big Fox to have your home violated and loose your guns. I'd be on a mission to find the responsable party and then they would just dissapear.
I haven't been out to South Dakota with the boys the last few trips. Decided to hang out at deer camp with dad and hunt the early season when it's milder. It makes it easier on him when it's not so cold. He's combat wounded veteran from Korea and froze his butt off during the winter months there and has never forgot it.

Man I wish my dad hunted. Anything at all. At least he enjoys the stories I tell him of my hunts on his property. Then I guess he tells his buddies at work how many deer and turkey are on his land. They ask to come hunt there and I tell them sorry just not enough room. That place is my honey hole, no pressure lots of deer. Try to keep it that way.
