This years convention didn't have as much attendance, but I still had a good time. So hot in the summer maybe spring would have a better turn out? Looks like we lost the NE convention. Going to be in Herkimer,NY this year. Sucks-I really enjoy the demos and it's where I buy a lot of stuff at decent prices,w/o shipping.

I used the last of my curiosity fox lure today. I should have gotten the bigger bottle. Any suggestions on what lures have worked for anyone else?

What do you use as bait for your Fox sets? My father used to always take me Squirrel hunting, so he could chop them up store them in a mason jar and bury them for a couple months. I still cant get rid of that smell. It was very effective and put off a powerful odor.

there is all sorts of things to use right off the shelf, but when you mention it i knew a guy that use to stick a couple of trout and a scoop of mayonaise in a mason jar and put it on the roof of his house for a year. then he would take it out the nest year take the cap off, being extremely careful of the wind direction, and would just dip a stick in it and throw it on the ground.. extremely smelly.......

For raccoons I have had good results with marshmellows and wet cat food. Groundhogs I use apples, broccoli, pears. Foxes I have bought red fox gland(no catches on that one yet), a food based lure(ground up mice mixed with something), and a curiosity lure(Have no idea what it is but smells pretty good). Have heard grape jelly works well for raccoons also. I've only got two gray foxes so far running six traps off one farm. Have had a number of traps set off but nothing in them. Still learning.

I saw a beautiful red fox the other day while deer hunting. I set seven dirthole leg traps yesterday. It was so cold last night when I went to check them they were completly frozen. Like they were covered in concrete. Anyway to avoid this?, or is it just part of trapping in the cold.

$6.50 for Muskrats?!?!?! Where you getting those prices, I'm gonna have to start trapping again. Last time I checked down here it was barely $2, IF you could find a buyer. Get more for the meat than the pelts!
You guys do have me wanting to start 'rat trapping again, it's all I used to do during middle school before and after school. Would fox trap, but I've, uhhh, gotten rid of most of them this year, old Nodak trick I learned out west...(but I now have more rabbitts around than I've EVER seen).

I get THE TRAPPER & PREDATOR CALLER magazine. Lots of cool info. This month the price on rats is $7.50 to $8 with an average of $7 for finished fur (fleshed, stretched and dried). With the mild winter the furriers have had a hard time selling there coats. Christmas makes up most of there yearly sales and this year were way down. Which has led to a surplus of coats which means they won't be buying as much fur which means by next year the prices of pelts will drop.

Put a baggie under the trap to prevent moisture from wicking up into the dry dirt. Then pray it don't rain/wet snow. They also make and sell anti-freeze dirt. Some also mix salt with their dirt. And didn't fox go out a couple weeks ago? ;D
