My second favorite thing to hunt behind whitetail is wild boar. went on a hunting trip two years ago,too upstate new york.me and my best friend scored on a couple of pure russian imports!they both wayed in at 320lbs.both had 4inch tusks.it was a summer hunt,(july),so the coats were very light.great hunt though, the memory will last me to the grave.anybody that can aford a get away hunt should do their best to make it happen.i'll try to get some pictures posted to go with the story.sorry not so computer savy!git-r-done!oh by the way i shot mine with a rifle, and my buddy used his bow for his hog.

I have wanted to try hog hunting for a few years now. I've heard north carolins has pretty inexpensive hunts available. I've seen them things mess up some packs of dogs, tough hogs. Do they taste like pork or just a gamey version of pork? My buddy has a wild boar head mount that is really cool. He shot his with a recurve like twenty years ago. Can't wait to see some pics.

yah, hardcore, tasted great!i had my hog cut up like this:chops, country sausage, and plain ground.the chops tasted like chops only they're dark not white.the ground was just like ground beef, great chili, spagghetti, and burgers. and the sausage,WOW!to die for!we are planning a south carolina hunt in the spring or summer, probably bostic plantation. have you heard of them?my buddy has been before.he said he had a great time, but the heat is killer, and they also have rattle snakes.that's all he got on his last trip there.2 rattle snakes.i don't think i'd like hunting with dogs,to loud and frantic from what i saw on the promotional video.i think i'll stand hunt a food plot,ya know?

Sound really neat to hunt!! I am going to get after them one day. Is there any BACON on them? I am a huge fan of BACON. You could put it on ice cream & it would be good!!

the thing is, there is very little fat on them, not as lean as a deer, but very close.and i don't no if bacon is like ham, does it need to be cured or smoked?that takes along time, and knowing the butcher, probably is cost prohibitive.

I'd go on a hog hunt. I'm actually going to N. Carolina in the summer for a little R/R with the wife. Fishing, drinking, playing pool in the house, drinking and yeah, some drinking. Not too expensive either, with like 2 other couples.

Good site. But for you guys low on cash there is good hunting in NC, SC and TN. Most of the sites I've looked at cost about $300-$400 bucks for 3 day hunts. also had deals on big partys (discount) my need to ask around to get a group togeghter
