I have two yellow labs myself and had every intention of hunting them. As time went on I wasn't able to complete their training due to time restraints and not having the ability to actually take them along.
They both showed great abilities to be great waterfowl dogs. Especially the one I paid bigt bucks for. Theres nothing like a picture of a Lab in a waterfowl setting.

I don't have a dog myself, but my buddy, BIG FOX has a real nice one named Maggie. One day last year, my boat sank (long story) & away floated an entire bag of decoys, but good ole Maggie swam the 300 yards out there & came back with the entire bag.

Ice froze in the hull & I didn't know it was there. Caused quite a bit of additional weight - when I slowed down to start putting out decoys it did a nosedive & began to take on water. We got it back to the dock, but when we did, it was completely under & ruined. The hot motor shattered when it hit the freezing water. I did a polar bear plunge & got the boat back on the trailer, (not knowing it was useless).

This is my girl Evy (Bon Repose Cove's Evil Hearted Woman), she'll be 7 this March. She'd rather hunt than eat, and I'd never think of going waterfowling without her. This year she's spent more time sleeping along the blind, as warm and duckless as it's been, but she's done some neat stuff while hunting. Retrieved first birds, teal, at 7 months old. Pretty regularly brings in bluebills 2 at a time (when we've got 'em and I can hit 'em ). Has gone almost across the tidal river, 500 yards, after crippled geese before, although I go get her with the boat when she pulls those stunts to save her the swim back in. Last year she pulled the best I've seen - we crippled a goldeneye one day and she spent way too long chasing it before it was too much and I called her off. The next day we crippled a mallard and it sailed into open water. Durn dog was smart enough, and the previous day was fresh enough in her mind, that she swam out around that duck and pushed it back to shore so I could shoot it again. ;D I was pretty dang proud of that dog that day.

Great pics. I have a hard headed 2 year old yellow lab. Ole Remington did retrieve three ducks for me last year, so hopefully he will do better this year. I will have to give Big Fox credit, Ole Maggie has retrieved a lot of ducks for us. Hell she even retrieved Jarheads boat after Big Fox let it float into the river.
