I'm torn, I am obsessed with waterfowling but am becoming equally obsessed with chasing these 4 legged, horn wearing, sneak up on ya', bastards. I may take my bow with me to Mckee-Beshers, wait for the duck hunters to run the deer up and out of the swamps, get a deer then commence to shootin' ducks.

Sure sounds like a good plan to me too!!!!
I too am torn between going after some early-season waterfowl & going after those horned creatures. Just found out today that one of my duck hunting buddies may be available on Saturday...
Told him that if he can make it out for the ducks that I would do that. Doesn't really matter to me either way!!!!!!!!!! As long as I am in the outdoors.

My cousin and I went out this morning, flooded timber for woodies. Saw a few wood ducks, but we shot all Green Wing Teal. Wasn't expecting that, but it's the first time I've gunned this place. Came out with 4, as usual shoulda had more. Rust musta built up in the barrels over the summer and threw the patterns off. Heard a few stags bugling, and heard a few splashing away when we started banging. There were some bow hunters on the place we gunned, I bet they sat up straight in the stands when the 12 gauges roared!!!!

Nice ducks and your dog sits nice for pictures also. Are green wing teal fast birds? I think I saw some when sika hunting blackwater, flying overhead making all kinds of noise. They were flying pretty fast. I've only shot a few bluebills and buffleheads. Those fast birds make for some difficult shots.

January is a great time for the river ducks!! As long as it is cold. Last winter was kind of mild & the ducks didn't show up as I would have liked them to.
